Concert band, Grade 4.
Winds Across the Water was commissioned by the Michigan City Municipal Band, Michigan City, Indiana, for its 157th season. The ensemble suggested that a water theme might be appropriate based on their performance venue being near Lake Michigan. During my research into the city itself I discovered several pictures of the Michigan City Lighthouse jutting into view against the horizon. The large melodic leaps and expansive sounds of the opening measures are inspired by that view. I also attempted to capture the feeling of standing on the edge of the water, with the wind blowing through my hair.

Parts are formatted for both 8.5x11 and 11x17 that can be folded to 8.5x11 (print landscape double sided, short edge). Score is formatted for 11x17.
